Who else wants instant stress relief?
There’s a saying that goes: Stress is when you wake up screaming and you realize you weren’t asleep.
Well when you are extremely stressed it feels just like that. Have you ever experienced that level of stress? You don’t always know that it is creeping up on you until you are at a critical stage. Stop the stress from getting that advanced and look at and incorporate into your life some of the instant stress relief methods listed below that really work.
These seven methods for quick stress relief are:
- Take a deep breath, fill your lungs with fresh air and then slowly let your breath out. Deep breathing helps you relax and stops you from shallow breathing that leads to hyperventilation. Take a few minutes to just concentrate on deep breathing. This method is also very good to reduce your anxiety.
- Go for a walk. Exercise reduces stress quickly. Walking meditation is especially good. More details on how to do this in a later post. Try and include some exercise in your daily routine.
- Find a friend and talk, get your feelings out and if you feel you need to cry, do that too. The benefits of having a best friend or relative to talk to is priceless. If you don’t have someone to talk to then write your feelings down. Don’t think about what you are writing , just do it.
- Sit in a quiet spot (a warm sunny spot in winter and a cool spot in summer) and relax your muscles. Popular spots for me are a beautiful garden, the lake, the beach or the forest. If you cant find a beautiful spot, load some pictures onto your computer and look at those. Just take some time out to relax for at least 10 - 20 minutes a day.
- Meditate, for the times that you cant take yourself off physically to a beautiful place but you can still go there in your mind. Visualization with mediation is very powerful.
- Listen to relaxation music especially those with binaural beats. This can reduce stress in minutes. The best music has binaural beats that you can download to your computer or to your mp3 player.
Watch and listen to the video below to hear a binaural beat recording but remember to wear dual headphones to get the full benefit. The buzzing background noise is the actual binaural beat.
This type of music can give you instant stress relief so sit back and enjoy!
